Dear Parents and Guardians,
I’d like to invite you to participate in the Gravenhurst Public School Parent Council for 2022-2023. Our Parent Council Election & First Meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 7:00 pm virtually via Google Meet. Other than this first election and meeting, meetings are normally held the fourth Wednesday of every other month. We do our best to send out a reminder email as well as a Social Media reminder post. We normally have around 5 meetings per year.
ANY PARENT with a student at GPS is welcome to attend. We are always looking for new members to join and we welcome back returning members. While we hope you can attend each meeting, we understand that members may miss some meetings due to how busy our lives are. We plan to trial both virtual and in person meetings to allow flexibility in understanding that each format has its benefits and drawbacks for participation.
Why join? Parent involvement is very important to your child’s education. It is also a great way to stay up to date with school events and what is going on within the school community. The Parent Council is not just about fundraising. Yes, we do that too, but by doing that we are able to add value to every student’s school life.
Parent Council has added many things to the school like:
- Sending students on end of year field trips
- Continued to support development of Grizzly Den environment
- Fundraising for the future purchase of new playground equipment
