We have a number of special activities planned for the next few weeks as we approach the holiday season here at GPS!
TLDSB Jersery Day – December 2
In support of th TLDSB Feed All Four fund, students and staff are encouraged to wear a Jersey and donate a toonie in support of this community fund.
Community Food Drive: Deceber 1 – 9, 2022
Each class will have a box in front of the office to fill with daily donations being requested from families who have the ability to items in when possible to support the food drive.
Dec 1st – pasta day
Dec. 2nd – breakfast day (pancake mix, syrup , cereal bars, cereal etc …..)
Dec. 5th – canned food items
Dec 6th – juices
Dec 7th – boxed items (granola bars, crackers, etc)
Dec 8th – soups
Dec 9th – CRAM A CRUISER DAY – baby food
OPP will have a cruiser stationed at GPS and GHS during morning arrival time for students to bring their baby food donations to and we’ll be loading the cumulative contributions from the previous days to the Cram A Cuiser event. All food donations collected from December 1-9 will be taken to the Gravenhurst Food Bank operated by The Salvation Army.
Families can access the Food Bank year round by making an appointment by calling 705-687-2131. The Food Bank is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1 – 4:30pm at 620 Muskoka Road North.
A Very Grizzly Holiday – Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 5 – 6:30pm
GPS is excited to welcome all families to participate in a drop in Holiday Open House event from 5:00 – 6:30pm. Our hallways will be filled with exciting activities and games led by Grade 7/8 leaders, we’ll have pizza available from Boston Pizza for dinner by pre-sale on SchoolCashOnline, crafts and student creations on display throughout classrooms, a holiday bake sale hosted by parent council, and many other fun activities for the whole family! We wish to thank Boston Pizza for their support in this event.
Spirit Week: The week before the holiday break will be a spirit week with themed days each day!

Dec. 22 – PJ Day
Dec 23 – Board Instructional Holiday – no school – have a safe and happy holiday! See you January 9, 2023.
Breakfast Program Update:
Did you know students arrive to bowls filled with fresh fruit, crakers, and cheese every day in their classrooms. This is thanks to the Student Nutrition Program and Food For Kids. We wish to extend a thank you to St James Anglican Church’s Hope Chest for recently donating $500 to our program.
